Together for 10years, it was no surprise to family and friends when Aoife and Dean got engaged. Aoife just wanted everything perfect with soft pretty pastel and a rustic but country feel to the wedding day. After recently both being unwell, Aoife's parents were able to attend the wedding and her very proud dad walked his little girl up the isle along to a magical string quartet. They wowed their guests on the grounds of Rathsallagh House which made the wedding more intimate. Studio Brown captured all the pretty wedding details. With a power point presentation on their relationship and some thoughtful gifts from her bridesmaids, it was surely going to be a day filled with love, laughter and tears. Let's take a look...
Both from Dublin, Aoife and Dean were introduced through a mutual friend whom knew this match would be perfect. Aoife explains when they met..."We’re both from Dublin and I (Aoife) was studying for my leaving cert while Dean was in college when we were first introduced through my bridesmaid Clodagh. We were friends for a few months before making it official in October 2007. We had our first kiss on Dun Laoghaire pier and we’ve managed to make it 10 years together, including surviving the scary process of buying a house! Clodagh since started going out with Dean’s friend Darren and they’re getting married this year too so it worked out well for everyone!"
Floral robes with the title of each leading lady is always so popular for bridal parties, these are super cute!
The proposal was romantic and very emotional. Aoife remember's the moment with such warmth..."Dean surprised me a few days before our 8th anniversary when we were on a week long trip to the Amalfi Coast. We were staying in a tiny little town called Minori along the coast which had a small beach, about 4 restaurants and not much else, but it was gorgeous and very secluded. We walked down the small fishing pier one evening before dinner and he proposed down at the end. He just happened to pick the one night where a storm was coming in and after I’d said yes and wiped away some tears we had to make a run for it to escape the giant waves coming over the end of the pier, with me desperately trying to protect my ring! I cried with happiness for almost an hour and once I got myself together we rang our parents to tell them the good news. We decided to keep it to ourselves for the rest of the trip so didn’t tell any other family or friends. This mean that we both got to tell our friends in person when we got home which made it extra special, especially for me being the first of the girls to get married. There were lots more tears that night!"
Planning a wedding can be stressful and very emotional and having all your family by your side is so very important. For Aoife it meant the world to have both her parents by her side..."By far one of the most special things about the day was having so many people we love able to attend, my dad had been dealing with kidney disease over the last few years and needed a transplant. By some miracle my mam was a match and donated him a kidney 6 months before the wedding. Then not too long after recovering from that operation my mam had to have her gallbladder removed, so it was a tough few months and made it extra special having them both healthy for the day and for my dad to be able to walk me up the aisle."
Aoife and Dean decided they wanted a country yet rustic look and feel to their wedding and of course Rathsallagh House played a big part in that but it was also all the little touches on the day. They couple had used burlap, twine and recycled brown card as decorations, save the dates, mass booklets and invitations. It's alway's good to recycle and get crafty when decorating your venue.
Aoife and Dean share some really good advice when planning your big day. The couple explain..."Never think to yourself “Oh I can do that nearer the time”. There are so many tiny things that you forget about that need to get done in the final few weeks, our one piece of advice would be to get as much as you can done as early as possible. Also particularly in the last few weeks the wedding will consume your relationship and every conversation, so try to take some time each week to get away from it all and talk about something else!" The couple headed off on a honeymoon made of dreams. Aoife fondly say's..."We had an absolutely amazing honeymoon in Cape Town, Mauritius and Dubai. " Making full use of these stunning countries and their time away. Aoife goes onto say..."It was an unforgettable experience and we feel so lucky to have been able to do see such amazing places."
