A huge fashion trend returning for Spring 2012 is Ikat. Ikat is a textile pattern created through a process of dying threads before the fabric is woven. Traditionally Ikat was hand-woven in South-east Asia and South American cultures but with modern technology it has now become a highly fashionable print popping up at all the fashion runways from Spring 2011 all the way through to Spring/Summer 2012.
With many designers taking Ikat to the max on the spring 2012 runways, others did a more subtle version of the print with panels and even floral designs mixed in. We too took this approach when creating this inspiration board, Ikat prints mixed with colourful exotic blooms and all with a worldly-chic feel. Personally I love fashion trends that can be translated into wedding inspiration.
If you want to incorporate this look into your big day, think mixing prints, bold colours and tribal style jewels. Don't forget about your wedding stationary too, a simple Ikat print like these from Alethea and Ruth and 2birdstone for Minted lets your guests know you are bang on trend!
