All this summer sunshine and hazy heat has me longing for champagne and strawberries on the lawn of a beautiful country house and lazy walks in the woods. Instead I find myself behind my desk, but today's lovely real wedding offers an opportunity to live vicariously through a very happy couple...
On a perfect summer's day Dearbhaill and Tom tied the knot in the picturesque Ladychapel in Maynooth and headed to the historic Carton House for their celebration, we're delighted that Michelle of MOS Photography shared this lovely and loving wedding with us and you too...
"Many moons ago, at the christening celebrations of the son of Elaine and best man Adrian, Tom first set his eyes upon his bride-to-be Dearbhaill. Our paths were soon destined to meet again at Elaine’s birthday party, whereupon the relationship took flight. And then in the summer of 2010, while holidaying on the romantic island of Madeira, Tom proposed against the backdrop of a moonlit ocean."
You may have noticed these darling little ring trays popping up all over the place - they're the work of Paloma's Nest, each one created by hand, they're beautiful keepsakes.
The mark of a fabulous wedding day, is when the bride is asked - what was your favourite moment, to which she replies "Too many to choose, but the moment when the priest declared us as married does stand out!"
The verdant parkland of Carton House is hard to beat when it comes to woodland wedding portraits, but returning to the hotel is no disappointment either, with the old part of the building offering amazing reception rooms that date back over 250 years. Sure, what more do you deserve on your wedding day?
See what I mean about enjoying champagne and strawberries at a country house?
Dearbhaill and Tom chose a classic and elegant look for their wedding but did have a very subtle and personal touch to bring it all together..."During our engagement on the island of Madeira, we first encountered the image of swans and this soon became the symbolic theme for our wedding eg. the unity candle, our wedding cake and also our stationery had subtle swan motifs included." Did you notice on the beautiful letterpress stationery by Farrell and Chase (scroll back to the top!)
And finally, what advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? "Give yourselves at least one year to organise the wedding and then just sit back and enjoy each moment of the day."
Huge thanks to Dearbhaill and Tom for sharing their day with us, very much hope you're enjoying married life together.
And to Michelle O'Sullivan of MOS Photography, a huge thank you must go too, make sure you all pop over to her brand new website to check out more of her work... www.mosphotography.com
