Both wedding professionals, the pressure was on for Natalie and James to have the best day ever, and that they did. Keeping things small and intimate Natalie and James invited just 50 guests to celebrate with them at their home, at an elegant marquee reception. Opting for a more luxe marquee feel Natalie and James decorated with ample pink peonies, aromatic lavender and an elegant 6 course meal. Planning your own marquee wedding at home? Butterfly Photography captured each detail to help inspire...
Lovely bride Natalie tells us how James proposed..."Having always joked that I wanted to be married by the time I was thirty (or I would consider myself to be a spinster!) James chose to propose to me on my thirtieth birthday. I had thirty presents and as he gave me my final and thirtieth present he proposed. Inside the final present was a diamond which formed the centre of my engagement ring."
With all fears of being a spinster subsided Natalie began to plan a pretty pink and lavender marquee wedding on the grounds of their own home.
Natalie explains what made them choose a marquee wedding..."Having both worked in the wedding and events industry for a number of years we both had very definite ideas about the venue for our wedding. Although over the years we had both visited some of the Westcountry’s most beautiful wedding venues we knew that we wanted a marquee wedding as it allows for so much more flexibility and you can really inject your personality into the day. We were fortunate enough to be able to rely on the generosity of numerous people we knew in the industry to provide us with exactly what we wanted."
Generally quite a relaxed style of wedding, Natalie and James added a little extra elegance and luxury to their marquee wedding with lots of pink peonies, handmade silk bunting and a scrumptious 6 course tasting menu.
Natalie's beautiful wedding dress is the Suzanne Neville ‘Cherish’ wedding dress, which perfectly matched the casual, yet elegant vibe of the day.
Both wedding professionals Natalie and James really wanted to have some personal touches to their day, so got busy DIYing. Natalie details their impressive efforts..."We spent the months leading up to the wedding creating personal touches. I grew lavender plants to give as a favour to each of guests (this whole process took over 18 months). I also made the place cards and labels for the favours based on a design using my favourite flower (peonies). We also both love reading and created book art to act as table numbers (essentially this involves folding each page of a book so that the side profile of the book then creates an impression of a number – it was incredibly time consuming but rewarding!) I adore flowers so these formed a key part of our day, from my peony and David Austin rose bouquet (David Austin roses are very personal to me as my granny, my mum and now me have grown these) to floral candelabras featuring more peonies, roses and hydrangeas."
Adding an extra special personal touch Natalie also gave her own speech, as did the other girls of the wedding party. Natalie recalls..."We included speeches by the ‘girls’ as well as boys; both myself, my mum and my sister made speeches alongside the more traditional groom’s, best man’s and father of the bride’s speech. It was really important to me that I had the opportunity to speak in front of the people I loved most and both my mum and my sister felt the same too. To any bride considering making a speech I would wholeheartedly recommend it, it is one of the key memories of the day for me."
Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us all! A big thank you also goes to Butterfly Photography for sharing her work with us. To see more from Butterfly Photography visit www.butterflyphotography.ie
