Oh Valentine: Gwendolyn + Adrian's Loughcrew Wedding

A musical and magical wedding at Loughcrew Estate.

Gwendolyn and Adrian met at Pickathon, a music festival held just outside of Portland, Oregon. Adrian was there performing with I Draw Slow, "an old-time band out of Ireland on the last leg of a US tour" and Gwendolyn was volunteering. The connection was immediate and within a month of meeting Gwendolyn had moved to Ireland. Six months later they were engaged and just over a year later they married in a magical, and musical wedding at Loughcrew filmed by the talented Daydream Pictures...

Gwendolyn tells us about the wedding day..."We did have a budget but it wasn't giant, so we tried to do the things ourselves that we thought might be fun. My maid-of-honour Emily made her own dress as well as doing all the flowers and paper decorations. Our friend Colin designed the programs and place-cards. Our friend Dominique handled all the planning and timing and lord knows what else. My mom made beautiful cards for guests to fill out, my mom and aunt brought décor with them from the states, our friends Brian and Nick drove miles and miles on last minute errands we didn't realise we had in a country neither of them are familiar with, and always with smiles. Honestly so many people were helping in so many ways it's difficult to keep track, but it was definitely all a group effort. The food was excellent, a local curry place called Madina. We had it buffet-style, in keeping with our attempt at a fairly casual wedding. We also had Guinness on tap, which I'd say the Americans were very pleased with. And the music was incredible. I Draw Slow doesn't actually perform at weddings save for their members, so I count myself very lucky to have married their fiddle player (in amongst all the other reasons.)"

A big thank you to you both for sharing your wedding day with us, and to Daydream Pictures for sharing their work with us. To see more from Daydream Pictures visit www.daydreampictures.ie
