So for a while now round tables for the wedding breakfast have been the top choice for Irish brides. Round tables are great - they create an intimate atmosphere where everyone at the table can chat and no one feels left out. But it's always good to think about the options and not to blindly follow suit of those that have gone before you.
So we're thinking today about Long tables, which are seen in almost all of the gorgeously styled weddings across the pond and I think they are going to make a big comeback.

Firstly, they look super gorgeous but they also make the table plan easier because groups can be merged along the table without obviously grouping or separating people. Plus, if you are stuck for space you might be able to squeeze a few extra in!
Flowers, candles or lanterns look amazing on long tables - the symmetry of their arrangement on a long table creates a fantastic visual effect. I love this stunning yet simple table setting with long candles in clear glass wine bottles for something a bit different.

Long Table Décor for Different Styles of Wedding
Long tables won't suit every venue but when it does work, it can look fantastic. One of the best venues for long tables is a marquee wedding - it can create a gorgeous French fete feeling and lends itself well to a casual atmosphere.

Or I love the idea of having a casual Summer wedding party in the local town hall or sports hall (minus the sweaty boys and mucky boots!) - check out this cute chilled out vibe with wooden chairs and bunting.

Check out this amazing winding long table under fairy lights for inspiration for an outdoor garden party wedding (let's face it, unlikely on the Emerald Isle but still a girl can dream...)

This type of table set up works so well in industrial type spaces - these pictures might inspire you to think outside the box for venue ideas (especially with all those empty industrial spaces around in these recessionary times - we've got one coming up in a few days which will blow your mind!). A blank canvas can be the best type of venue to plan a truly special and individual wedding.

Even for traditional weddings, this type of table set up can look really classic and simple. This gorgeous table set up with all white linen and a white lace runner is simply gorgeous.

A castle setting is the perfect place to use long tables to give that medieval banquet effect.
