Total opposites, Monique and Reinhard wanted to reflect both their loves and both their tastes in their dreamy fairytale wedding. Putting time and effort into finding the perfect suppliers to make their ideas a reality, Monique and Reinhard created a picture perfect celebration with ooddles of inspirational ideas and a stunning bridal look. The talented Carolien & Ben were on hand to capture each detail, and we're so delighted to share it with you today...
Monique and Reinhard both attended the same university - but were seeing other people at the time. They became acquaintances, and made each other laugh but it wasn't until years later they began to date. Monique told us..."I found his shyness very intriguing. It was only three years later when I received a Facebook message from him that we actually went on our first date. He asked me to be his girlfriend with an orchid and we knew from the start that we wanted to spend our lives together, in mutual weirdness!"
A lover of planning and quite intuitive, Monique was suspicious Reinhard might propose whilst on a weekend away she had planned. Time passed, no proposal occurred and so Monique got into her cosiest pyjamas and poured herself a glass of wine. It was only then Reinhard popped the question..."That’s when Reinhard went on his knee. He asked if I would make him the happiest man and I just burst into tears! Later on Reinhard said that he was happy that I changed into my sheep pj’s and removed my makeup before he asked because that was the woman he wanted to marry!" Very sweet...
A pair of romantics, and lovers of all things unique, Monique and Reinhard decided to have a very whimsical, fairytale inspired wedding with unexpected elements and sentimental touches. Monique told us..."Our day was truly taken out of a story book!! The colours we chose were warm and romantic and chosen by both of us. My favourite colour is burgundy and Reinhards’ is midnight blue. We then decided to bring in eucalyptus green to go with our fairytale look."
Monique continues..."From the beginning it was very important for me to make Reinhard feel comfortable with everything and every small decision. I am an eccentric person and I love talking to people and engaging with people. My husband loves that about me because we are total opposites. He is shy and he dislikes interacting with people he does not know. Whilst planning our wedding I had to choose vendors that he felt comfortable with (that was no small task and it took a lot of research and time). It was very important to me that Reinhard also felt as special as I did on the day (people tend to focus more on the bride)."
After careful consideration Monique and Reinhard chose the magical setting of the Imperfect Perfection gardens to host their wedding, complete with amazing ribbon décor, hanging glass vases and gluhwein mulled wine wedding favours to keep guests warm.
To complete the fairytale Monique chose a stunning full length San Patrick gown, accessorised with dainty lace gloves. Post-wedding Monique and Reinhard then honeymooned on the idyllic island of Zanzibar. Monique remembers..."It was beautiful, white sands, turquoise water...a real island holiday!"
Congratulations to you both and thank you so much for sharing your fairytale winter wedding with us all! A big thank you also to Carolien & Ben for sharing their work with us, to see more from Carolien & Ben visit www.carolienandben.com
