A Love From Abroad - Amanda & Tyler's Irish Wedding

A dream destination wedding from Arizona to Ireland...

Oh, this wedding is soooo pretty! I struggled with how to introduce this one, but hey, sometimes simple words are the best. Amanda and Tyler live in Arizona but wanted a destination wedding in Ireland, and set about planning one wonderful celebration that made our One Fab Hearts skip a beat... The colour palette is pink and mint pastel perfection with elegant touches of gold. Planning a wedding from 4000 miles away is no mean feat, and Amanda was determined to put her personal pretty touch on every little detail so it was a year full of collecting, sourcing and creating the sweetest accessories to bring their personalities from Arizona to Ireland.  The pair and their 21 family members and friends headed to Roundwood House, earlier this summer and were blessed with one of those glorious days we do (occasionally) get and there is no better place on earth. Prepare to be weak at the knees for some truly beautiful - thanks to Paula McManus' great photographs...

So we have to take this story back to Arizona where Amanda and Tyler are from to find out how they met...

...I'll let Amanda fill you in on the deets.. "I was working at a sporting goods store the summer after my freshman year of college when I saw a really cute guy getting interviewed. I thought to myself, I really hope they hire him! We ended up working as cashiers across from each other for a couple of weeks before I looked him up on Myspace (yes, Myspace!). He sent me a message asking me out on our first date." Wow. MySpace. Now there's a blast from the past!

It was a while later (about 7 years to be exact) when Tyler decided it was high time to pop the all-important question. Sweet and simple, that's how Tyler rolls and his proposal approach was very much his style... "Tyler’s a sweet, but a private guy. On our 7th anniversary as we were driving to a little bistro down the street to celebrate, he asked me to pull something out of the middle console. When I opened it up, the ring box was sitting there open. He must have asked me to marry him and I must have said yes, but to be honest I don’t remember! I teased him about asking me whilst driving since it meant I couldn’t even hug him, but luckily the drive was short and we were able to celebrate once we got there. I think my favourite part of the proposal was that we just sat at the restaurant, celebrating privately for a couple of hours before telling anyone. It was fun to have it as our little secret for a bit."

The bride had two very cute flowergirls to help her on the day. Amanda choose soft mint dresses with embroidered tops and pretty gold sandles. Just wait till you see what accessories she made for them...

As you know us girls take much longer than boys to get ready so let's check in on groom Tyler who is putting the finishing touches to his own look.  His shirt, bow tie and suit are all Hugo Boss and he accessoried with Cole Haan shoes plus a mint pocket square from Monsieur Fox. Mint continues through the whole wedding along with touches of pink and gold.

Amanda choose a beautiful crochet lace wedding dress named 'Acapulco' from Watters Bride. Her bargain purchase was her beautiful original 1920s-1930s Juliette cap veil which she found in a local antique store, for only $12!

It looks like Amanda isn't the only princess on the day, can you imagine how excited they must have been?

Amanda added a touch of colour in her pink shoes and carried the pink though to her pretty peony bouquet.

As I mentioned earlier Amanda put her hand to nearly every element of the day including gorgeous little accessories for the little flower girls. She put together crowns from Feather River Boutique from Etsy and handmade the little heart wands herself!

Amanda and Tyler choose Roundwood House to get married and lucked out with some Irish sun so they decided to have their ceremony outside. Amanda was prepared with some sweet décor to make the space their own... "For the ceremony I made all the signs to line the aisle using quotes from our favourite movies. We had muslin bags which I stamped with a gold “B” filled with lavender for everyone to throw during the recessional and we hung a heart backdrops which we brought from BHLDN."

Tyler’s brother-in-law performed our (non-legal) ceremony outside and that was amazing. It was the most personal, thoughtful, and loving ceremony I’ve ever heard. He had secretly asked us both questions prior to the wedding and used some of our answers in the ceremony.

The antique bible I carried was given to my Grandma before she got married. She carried it down the aisle for her wedding as did her 2 daughters.

With a sprinkle of lavender the beautiful ceremony came to an end.

The couple took some time alone on the grounds of Roundwood with their photographer Paula McManus and the photographs are beautiful of the pair...

The day was completely magical. Everything felt relaxed and comfortable. Coming from dry, hot Arizona we were hoping for a little bit of rain. However, it was the clearest, sunniest day! Luck of the Irish perhaps?

All the little details of Amanda'a bridal style are very sweet. From her twirled hair, pretty pink flower hair accessories and delicate backless dress.

Planning a wedding from Arizona isn't easy, so when Amanda came across the warm hospitality of Roundwood House she looked no further in her venue search... "In my search for a country house to accommodate us all, I was so impressed with Hannah’s patience and friendliness (all via email). We could not have made a better decision. All 21 of us who travelled to Ireland for the wedding will tell you that the Roundwood House was our favourite part. The house alone is stunning and so much fun to explore. The little girls had a great time on the swing set, hanging out with the owners two little girls and their dog, Rococo. The adults enjoyed relaxing in the drawing room by the fire or having the most excellent full Irish’s every morning."

Once the venue was selected Amanda could get on with planning the bit she was really passionate about - the details! "It was very important to me that even though we were having a destination wedding that we still had all the details and personalisation that we’d have if it were local. The details are my absolute favourite part of any wedding, so I tried to pack in as many as I could. We were going for a soft, 1910-1930’s feel with lots of mint, gold, and little bits of blush. My mom and I spent the year leading up the wedding collecting antique vases and tins for centrepieces, antique napkins, lockets, hankies, etc. I loved having all of our personal touches there. Hannah and Paddy at the Roundwood House also made the day so special for us. They went above and beyond and they felt like an extension of our family. Paddy even stayed up to the wee hours partying with us before getting up bright and early to make everyone breakfast!

Amanda began her wedding décor planning with a pretty pastel colour palette of soft pink and mint with touches of gold. She added a whimsical mix of antique furniture finds. Little vintage lockets were gifted to everyone and left on their place setting along with pretty original 1920s hankies.

The pretty 1920s gold detailed pieces added warmth and a sense of elegance from a time gone by. Combining the antique finds with the feminine colour palette incorporated Amanda's passion for antiques with her modern bridal style and the results are so pretty don't you think?

Amanda and Tyler spent a lot of time planning their wedding reception and sourcing materials and vintage finds. The results really show how much hard work went into their day and from all the way in Arizona! So we can't wait to hear their words of wisdom...

... "Make it your own. If there’s something that’s important to you to make it feel personal, do it. Secondly, be organized. I used a very extensive spreadsheet for everything from our budget to a day of and timeline to the way the reception table should be laid out. It made things so relaxing to just be able to hand over a list or diagram of something so someone else could take care of it."
