Owners of online store Totally Mod, and staunch lovers of all things mod, it was only natural for Mel and Kevin to incorporate the 60's subculture into their chilled out wedding day. The 60's vibe was incorporated throughout from Kevin's dapper groom style and scooter transport to the cake-topper and decorations at The Cock O’Barton, where the intimate party reception was held. Katy Webb was on-hand to capture each detail of this perfectly matched couple's day...
Both lovers of all things 60's and the mod subculture, when Mel and Kevin laid eyes on each other on Plenty of Fish they just knew it was love. Mel remembers..."We messaged for a few weeks and spoke on the phone every day before we met. It was love at first sight!"
A perfect match, Kev proposed one night on the Albert Dock in Liverpool. Mel recalls..."We both love it there and one of our first dates was there so it has a special meaning to us. I had no idea he was going to propose. We went for a drink, then he suggested going for a walk. We were walking by the water admiring the view and he started to tell me just how much he loved me, produced the box with the ring in, then asked if I would do him the honour of being his wife. I of course said yes! In the excitement of it all I forgot to even look at the ring, I was so happy I couldn’t stop crying!"
A lover of all things mod since he was a teen Kevin dressed in a traditionally made 1960’s tonic suit and rode to the church on a lovingly restored 1967 LI Series 3 Lambretta. To complete his nod to the 60's Mel handmade his skinny tie and pocket square in true mod style.
A family affair Mel's daughter Hollie acted as bridesmaid along with Mel and Kevin's goddaughter. In total Mel and Kevin had just 35 guests, making the entire day super intimate and love filled.
The reception, was again, filled with nods to the 60's with a vintage ice cream van provided by friends and a scooter cake-topper which Kevin painted to match his own scooter exactly.
To complete their wedding day Kevin's best man, and Northern Soul DJ, spun vinyl into the early hours. The perfect ending to this character filled wedding day.
Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us all. A big thank you also goes to Katy Webb for sharing her work with us. To see more from Katy Webb visit www.katywebbphotography.com
