For this week's Saturday Selection we have a fantastic round-up of couples and their Irish love stories, with a beautiful castle celebration complete with céilÃ, a vintage inspired Christmas affair, a romantic Irish rainy day wedding and the lovely winners of one of last years Generous January competitions! Let's get stuck in...
A Vintage Christmas Celebration
When Stephen proposed to Mary next to the Christmas tree on Dec 2nd 2013, Mary knew immediately that she would love a Christmas wedding. This lovely couple said their I do's in an intimate Christmas ceremony in St. Finbarr's South Chapel in Cork with 22 guests joining them. After emerging from the church as newlyweds, they popped into St. Maries of the Isle NS where they were greeted by all the children from first to sixth class! The couple continued to Hayfield Manor where they enjoyed a wedding luncheon with their guests and later that evening they celebrated with friends and family in Jacobs on the Mall, South Mall, Cork city. Mary wore a No. 1 Jenny Packham dress paired with a bracelet that her dad Frank gifted to his sweetheart (Mary's Mum!) for Christmas over 50 years beforehand. Emily Doran was on hand to capture all the festive details of the day, you can see more of Emily's work here.
A One Fab Day Engagement
If you are a regular reader of One Fab Day you'll have noticed for the month of January we have been running Generous January competitions where you can win lots of wedding goodies and treats for your big day. Last year we also ran the series and today we are delighted to share the prize winners of a fab e-shoot which the generous Aga of White Tea ran with us. Incorporating their love of the outdoors (James even proposed to Camilla on a hike in Camino de Santiago) Aga whisked the couple to the Wicklow Mountains, where they went on their first date, for some beautiful and romantic shots of this lovely couple. This is just a sneak peek, you can see the full shoot over on Aga's blog.
A Rainy Day Romance
A Celtic Castle Extravaganza
Both hailing from The States, Allison and Johnny packed their bags to study here in Ireland. They both attended graduate school at the University of Ireland in Maynooth, so it was only fitting they choose Barberstown Castle, just a few miles outside of the town as the spot for their dream wedding day. A magical, picture-perfect venue for this lovely couple's happily ever after, Allison and Johnny choose old friend and photographer Kara Kamienski to capture all the details of their big day there. Guests were treated to an incredible day of Irish celebrations, an all Irish wedding mass, an Irish wedding feast, bagpipes, a traditional Irish band and a céilà that went on until the wee hours of the morning! See this amazing day in full over on Kara's blog.
