Hope you're all enjoying the holiday break - we certainly are! It's been a hectic year, full of excitement and challenge, but we've loved every minute, from the beautiful real weddings we've featured and the fantastic suppliers and services we've discovered, to the lovely emails we've received from brides-to-be and the feedback we've gotten from the wedding industry in Ireland. We're looking forward to an exciting 2012, but first we thought we'd take these few days between Christmas and New Year, when everyone is relaxing, to take a little break ourselves and reflect on all the awesomeness of 2011.
So we're bringing you a series of posts that highlight some of our favourite wedding discoveries and features from throughout this year, both those we've shown on One Fab Day, and those from some of the very special wedding blogs out there across the globe. We're starting today with a splash of colour - we've selected some of our favourite 2011 Wedding Colours to spark the imagination...
Starting with our favourite One Fab Day 2011 Wedding Colours - peaches and cream are perfectly complemented by a hint of sage green while a monochrome palette of various tones of grey is a bit unexpected but very sophisticated.
Sapphire blue with rich golden tones may have drawn some inspiration from the royal wedding, but doesn't have to be princess pretty, it's regal but contemporary in this palette. The softest pastels were huge among wedding colours in the summer of 2011, with brides opting for a dusty pink french country look combining vintage elements with summer styling.
For those seeking an unusual pop of colour - some of the most fascinating 2011 wedding colours were combinations you wouldn't think would work at first, but wait til you see the yellow with rust red and a soft shade of ferny green, while on BetsyWhite shades of lilac and lavender were offset with a deep coral and palest pink.
For a twist on an autumnal feel, Snippet and Ink brought darkest brown into the light with shades of green and golden fruity tones. A hint of electricity was in the air over on Green Wedding Shoes when neon pink lit up the subtle tones of peach and slate.
Duck egg blue is joined by chocolate brown and a shade of mauve to give a late summer feel over on BetsyWhite. For those who like to stick to one colour, then Martha Stewart shows you how to add interest by using a variety of tones along the spectrum rather than just one colour + white. This combination of yellows and oranges is striking but subtle.
Hope you like this round up of our favourite wedding colour schemes from 2011 - tomorrow we're recapping our favourite weddings from throughout the year, so stay tuned...
